30 Days Hath November catch up

I have missed a few of my 30 Days Hath November so I'm going to do one post and catch up!

Day 20: A childhood anecdote.

When I was six I had my very first art show.
It was in Winnipeg at a place called St. Norberts Arts Center where my mother had an artist residency for a few months.
I had painted with acrylic on small canvases of things that inspired me at the time... such as Hermione Granger, Jessie the cow girl from Toy Story, Baby Chicks, Ballet dancers and many more.. interesting to say the least *wink* subjects.
I had my very own opening in one of the rooms there. I got dressed up in my pretty pink dress with white tights and black Mary Jane's (yes I do remember exactly what I was wearing) and I displayed all my work on a vintage couch.
It was a great turn out because that night there was a group of African American painters who were coming for a residency and they all came to my opening.
It was a cute sight. This little girl, quiet and shy with a bunch of painters loud and super nice.
It was a great turn out and I sold a LOT of paintings. I also got a few commissions and that was really exciting.
But the best part of it for me?
I got big zinnias as a gift and they were so beautiful and colourful and I felt like a real painter walking around selling paintings and holding a bunch of flowers almost bigger than myself.
I cried when they flowers died two weeks later.

Day 21: Something I could never tire of.

Go ahead and giggle cause most people will do something more serious for this day.. But watching Friends is something I will never tire of. Its a huge pick me up for when I'm sick and it always makes me happy.
Its something I will NEVER ever tire of.

Day 22: Some place I’ve traveled.

Newfoundland.

I have traveled many placed in my life because of my mothers art.
I grew up traveling with my family to different places for art shows.
Newfoundland was one of my favourites though.
Simply a beautiful place.
I was around 5 or 6 when we went there for another residency for my mother.
I remember how it was right by the water and how we came in a storm and it was so scary cause of the waves.
I remember walking along the water on crisp days with people we met there and talking about fairies.
I remember sitting in the kitchen of the place we stayed and stuffing dolls that my mom made with sea weed and shells and other found objects. I remember so many good memories..
It was a great part of my childhood.

Day 23: Eight things you didn't know about me.

1. I have never seen a scary movie.
2. I love to care for people. I mother people and care about anyone and everyone.
3. People usually think I'm at least 18 when I meet them. I have had people ask if I was a teacher multiple times. People think I'm 20 usually. I'm 15 in case we have some new readers reading this ;)
4. I don't like reading books. I prefer graphic novels or reading blogs.
5. I have a lot of tom boy moments.. a lot.
6. I saved a dying fly three days ago and named it Winifred.
7. I have never been able to play an instrument but always wanted to. I took guitar lessons for a year and was a huge fail. I have a goal of learning how to play the ukulele though.
8. I'm very clumsy. I have trouble walking without getting hurt.

Day 24: Something that means a lot to me.

Happiness.

It means so so much to me. I like to spend my time being the happiest I can be and seeing the good in things. It makes my life really good.

Day 25: The contents of my purse.

From top to bottom left to right.

Water bottle
Instax mini camera
Old old i pod touch
vintage ray bans and fake ray bans
vintage sunglass case
6 bobby pins
Joe Fresh eye liner
vintage cameo necklace
Lip balm, lip stick, lipstick, lip gloss and another lip balm (funny thing is I only use two of them)
Coin purse
another coin purse used for cash
two lolly pops
Leatherman (You never know!)
Candy rockets
two pencils and four pens of different sizes (mostly 0.03 and 0.05)
Pink nail polish
Gum
Pepto bismal (I get sick quite a lot so I always have some just in case)
And my Samsung link cell.

Now is that a lot of stuff or what?! I also tend to have a lot of assorted 'crap' in my bag. Garbage, receipts and fluff from mittens.
I love my purse. I thrifted it this summer for $1 and I bring it everywhere I go. It's big so I can carry all my things in it and It has a good shoulder strap so it doesn't dig into my shoulder and cause pain.
It's perfect :)

"Dymo is a girls best friend" Quote my father uses anytime I bust out my dymo *wink*.

Day 26: Something I'm looking forward to.

I won't say because it will make for a great surprise but I'm having a little meet up with some fellow bloggers on Wednesday and its going to be a great time! I'll take lots of pictures and post about it.. but for now thats all you get to know.

Day 27: Myself, one year ago.

I was in Hamilton for (yes once again) my mothers art and it was a blustery cold winters day. Yarn bombing was big in hamilton and I was chilly.. a la presto! The photo above was born.

Day 28: A skill I'd like to learn.

I want to learn how to play the Ukulele so bad you have no idea. It's so pretty and has the most enchanting sound.
I WILL learn. I'm determined.

Day 29: Some place I'd like to I will visit.
Bali.
I will  visit Bali as soon as I save up enough. Being a partial Buddhist is what I am but would love to go there and just immerse myself in thier culture and all that comes with it. I would love to go to a meditation camp as well. No matter how hard of a time I will have not talking ;)

So so beautiful and so so wonderful.

Well are you still hanging on there?! That  was one looong post *gasp*! I'm glad I'm caught up and can do the last post tomorrow on three wonderful things that happened to me this month. Boy do I have some wonderfully happy things that happened.

  3. hehe, who doesn't love friends? re-runs are on tv so often, i LOVE it! do you own all of the seasons on dvd or just watch the re-runs? i can watch the same episode over and over and over...i never get sick of it!

i'm continuously shocked over the fact that you are only 15 years old...i definitely don't feel 10 years older than you. you're wise beyond your years miss.

also, SO neat that you had an art show when you were just six years old and sold paintings on top of that. you're lucky to have grown up with an artistic family (but i'm sure you're aware of that!)

see you tomorrow pretty girl :)

  5. I love Friends so much my friends think it's creepy. I have the box-set and I've seen each episode, no exaggeration, at least 40 times. I can be cleaning in another room while it's on my tv, and actually imagine the show in my head. Like tell you what they're wearing and everything. It's obsessive but I wouldn't want it any other way :)
