I'm still here!!

Why haven't I posted?! Well.... miss Charlie (my mac book pro) got a little sick and needed some new fixings. She's still in the process of getting better (new screen Wednesday *crosses fingers)
So Astrid without her darling charlie is not a very bloggy person. I could on my iphone, but that would just be instagram pictures and I'm sure your not too interested in a bunch of those!

So here we are, best friends again, Astrid and Charlie.

On another note, Holy is christmas coming up!
I got in a little christmas spirit today and took some antler-ific pictures *wink*
Enjoy!

(Last one I had to use just for Sh*ts and giggles, cause I crack myself up pretending to be a super hero ;)

Dont vintage dresses saddle shoes and antler headbands make for some great christmas spirit?

365 Art Show

Hello darlings!
I went to the most perfect art show on Friday of the one and only Lucky Jackson's art work!! It's the pieces from her 365 project. Everything was simple perfect and the old Christmas music playing and the cozy atmosphere? It was perfect. Good people, lots of laughs and love and of course the best art around.
Here are so snaps from the night ...

So much goodness at this art opening. You can check it out if you live around the Peterborough scene! Its at the Gallery In The Attic on hunter St.

Cheers to a great night and great friends! *clink*

Grandpa sweater weather!

Ok, so this post is called Grandpa sweater weather... but its really a lie because i wore this today and FROZE.
Good for inside but if its snowing and -2 maybe not ;)

Anyhow!

This morning I woke up and said BLAH I don't want to dress up. Might I add I almost always want to dress up nice and spiffy if I'm going out.
So I found a compromise, comfy cozy grandpa sweater leggings and vintage oxfords?! I think so.

See my hair? Its orange! I'm working on bleaching it without killing it completely.
So in the mean time its orange with pink on the tips.

Also, isn't this little purse the cutest?! My dad found it at a thrift store in North Bay in the summer and got it for me (how cute is he?)

sweater from Value Village
Shirt from Urban Outfitters
Leggings ?
Knee highs from Target
Shoes a present from Caren
Purse thrifted

Do you have a comfy go to outfit?

the happenings

Busy busy busy! Goodness gracious me! (ok I said that cause it rhymed... obviously)

I just had my wisdom teeth taken out. Ouch! And let me tell you, I did not have an easy time of it. At all.
I was in the ER the day after in so much pain I couldn't keep anything down and they had to give me Morphine. Thank god for painkillers!
So getting over that is taking some time for sure. But I'm having an alright time of it.
Listening to She&Him, having movie days with my boyfriend (this included watching elf, Across The Universe and Toy Story 3).

Heres a few Instagram photos from the past week...

Potato leek soup was my love.

This dog has been the most wonderful little guy possible. As soon as I came home he knew something was up and hasn't left my side since!

Hospitals are no fun...

But cozying up in bed after them sure are (might I add I was a little high on the various things they gave me so that made it a bit more fun hehe)

Well hello

Hello dear readers

Well goodness that was a lovely break from blogging but I'm ready to come back...

Many a things have happened since I took my blogging break...
1) I had an operation.
2) I got a job.
3) I snagged a simply amazing man.
4) I have set new goals and all together just needed time to figure some things out for myself.

I feel like I have a better hold on what I want and what I need for myself and as a human that is a very important thing I'm sure you all know.

So as you may have noticed I changed the name of my blog. And my goodness I still am not sure about  it! You will be noticing a LOT of changes on this blog. Slightly different content, changing designs and all that jazz till I find it a place that reflects me and my personality.

So here I am.

(in cozy boyfriend city and colour hoodie and sweet tea he gave to me)

So my darlings, smile, sit back and enjoy life and hear my thank you! I appreciate that you all still follow me and I have gotten messages asking where I went. And here I am. And thank you for caring.

Have a perfect day

this summer

Hello darlings!

Where oh where have I been?! Oh dear I seem to be having a hard time keeping up with posting this summer! I have been incredibly busy and I'm popping in today for two reasons...

One is to show you some paintings that were painted of me while modelling yesterday at HSTA.

Aren't they simply beautiful?
It was my first time modelling for an art class as a paying job.
I simply loved it. It was so interesting being the subject of art. Watching people study and paint me. Fascinating! I was honoured to be the model for Brian Smith's class and would love to again one day.

I also have a shout out to my mom! Happy 50th birthday! Love you so, so much <3

Pad thai!

Hey darlings!
I'm here today to show you my favourite recipe ever! Pad thai!
It's from The Bamboo Restaurant Cookbook.

You'll need...

1/3 pkg thai rice noodles
vegetable oil
4 garlic cloves crushed
4 eggs
4 tbsp thai fish sauce
4 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 handfulls bean sprouts
green onion
pepper
mushrooms
broccoli

First off you want to cut your veggies.

I like to put green onions, orange pepper, mushroom, broccoli, sprouts.
But you can use whatever veg you like

Then time to boil a full kettle of water for the rice noodles.

Whisk four eggs in a small bowl.

Now its time for the most yummy sauce ever! You'll need...

1. Lemon juice
2. Ketchup
3. Peanut butter
4. Fish sauce

In a bowl you want to mix 4 tbsp fish sauce, 4 tbsp lemon juice, 4 tbsp ketchup, 2 tbsp sugar, half a cup peanut butter (I do two big tbsp's full). Mix well in bowl.

Now once your water boils put your rice noodles in a heat safe bowl and pour it over till they are covered. Put a plate over top to keep the heat inside and leave till they are soft.

In a wok on high put the garlic and chilly peppers mixed with vegetable oil. Then one by one add the hardest veggies that'll take longest to cook until you have all your veg in the wok.

Then you want to pour your eggs into your veggies and cook them like a scrambled egg. Then strain your noodles and add them in! Cook everything for a minute till combined. Then add the sauce and mix together.

And there you have it! Your very own yummy pad thai!

Do you have any favourite meals?
